Community-Based Day Services helps adults with disabilities participate in their community and improve their skills by providing access to regular, meaningful social contact and stimulating activities. Community-Based Day Services are designed to maximize a person’s ability to manage everyday life activities in their community. The services are also geared toward an employment track or retirement track and help to guide and promote independence toward personal goals whether a person is looking to be gainfully employed or to retire and enjoy a full schedule of recreation and volunteer opportunities.
A strong emphasis is placed on community participation, volunteerism and providing access to visual and performing arts for all of our participants, assisting with movement and gross motor activity goals. Volunteerism includes regular projects as well as seasonal and one time endeavors. Examples include Adopt-a-Site rest area clean-up, The Salvation Army, grocery shopping through the Adams Council for Aging, craft activity for the North Adams Downtown Celebration, Rotary Club Holiday gift wrapping and making Easter baskets for people living at Louison House.
